Payments

Your money never touches our hands.

Card payments go from the parent's card into your own Stripe account. You are the merchant, RocketClass takes no commission, and payouts, refunds and payment plans work the way this page says they do.

Where the money goes

Three stops, none of them ours.

1

A parent pays by card

Checkout is hosted by Stripe, the same payment page used by millions of businesses. Card details never touch our servers or yours.

2

It lands in your Stripe account

Every booking is charged directly on your own Stripe account, not collected by us and paid out later. We take no cut and we cannot hold, delay or touch your takings.

3

Stripe pays out to your bank

Payouts run on Stripe's standard schedule to the bank account you connect, and you control the schedule from your own Stripe dashboard.

The takings view: every payment, refund and payout in one list

Every payment, refund and instalment in one list, reconciled against what actually reached your account.

Setting up

One Stripe onboarding, once

From your admin, one button starts Stripe’s hosted onboarding: your business details, your bank account, an identity check. It is Stripe’s own flow, usually done in a few minutes. No Stripe account yet? The same flow creates one. Already have one? Connect it through the same door.

Until it is approved your booking page still works: parents book and choose to pay you directly by bank transfer, cash or childcare vouchers, and you mark the booking paid. Card payments switch on the moment Stripe says yes.

What it costs

One fee exists, and it is not ours

RocketClass’s cut is nothing. No commission, no per-booking fee, no charge to the parent. Our only revenue is the flat subscription on the pricing page.

Stripe charges its standard card-processing rate on each payment, deducted before the money reaches your balance, as with any card machine or payment provider. Stripe publishes its UK rates at stripe.com/pricing (1.5% + 20p for standard UK cards at the time of checking).

Sibling discounts, refunds, payment plans and promo codes carry no per-use charge from us (payment plans and promo codes are part of the Pro plan). They are product features, not billable extras.

Refunds

Refunds, without a support ticket

Issued by you, from your admin, in a couple of clicks: the whole booking or any amount up to what has actually been collected. A full refund also frees the place, and your waiting list is offered it automatically. On a payment plan a refund spreads across the instalments already charged, oldest first; the maths is handled, you just enter the amount.

Inside your free-cancellation window, which you set in hours before the first session, a parent can cancel from their own account and the refund is automatic and in full, with the place going back on sale. Outside the window they can still cancel, but the money stays with you unless you choose to refund it. Refunds are protected against double-clicks, retries and flaky connections, so the same money can never be refunded twice.

The honest footnote: when you refund, Stripe returns the payment but keeps its original processing fee. That is Stripe’s policy, not ours. We charge nothing on refunds.

Instalments that chase themselves

Split a term into monthly instalments at checkout. Each one charges the parent’s saved card automatically on the due date, and nobody writes a reminder email.

When a card fails, the charge retries daily for three days and the parent gets a receipt or a failure email each time. If it still fails the plan pauses and you are told, with the balance visible in your payments list.

Cash, transfers and childcare vouchers

Not every family pays by card. You can take a booking and record it as paid by cash or childcare voucher, and it sits in your reports next to the card payments, so your takings are one list, not a spreadsheet reconciliation. Voucher and tax-free childcare eligibility depends on your own registration status, which is your side of the paperwork; recording the payment is ours.

Fair questions

Do you hold my money?

No. Every card payment is charged directly on your own Stripe account. It never passes through ours, and we cannot hold or delay a payout.

When do I get paid?

Stripe pays out to your bank on its standard schedule, which you control from your own Stripe dashboard.

What does a card payment cost?

Stripe's standard card-processing fee, and nothing else. We take no commission and add no per-booking fee; our only revenue is the flat subscription.

Do I need a Stripe account already?

No. Connecting payouts from your admin creates one through Stripe's own hosted onboarding in a few minutes.

How do refunds work?

From your Payments list: full or partial, capped at what has actually been collected, and protected so the same money can never be refunded twice. Inside your free-cancellation window, parents can cancel themselves and the refund is automatic.

Can parents pay without a card?

Yes. A booking can be recorded as paid by cash or childcare voucher, and it appears in your reports alongside card payments.

What happens when an instalment fails?

The charge retries daily for three days with the parent emailed each time; if it still fails the plan pauses and you are notified.
